DIY SOS & Caddy Windows help bring Ryan Pollard home

6th April 2017 may not be a day that will stick in the mind for many people, but for the Pollard family in Hartcliffe it was a day that they will remember for the rest of their lives.

Ryan Pollard has been in Gloucester Royal Hospital for the past 5 years after suffering a severe brain condition in 2012. His parents have been travelling to and from Gloucester on an almost daily basis to see Ryan, something that has been very tough for Ryan and all his family involved.

DIY SOS decided that Hartcliffe and the Pollard family were the perfect location for their latest episode of the Big Build and Caddy Windows were lucky enough to be one of 2 window companies chosen from the whole of the city of help be part of the project to bring Ryan home, something that they are extremely proud of.

Marketing Manager Nick Caddy explained “It’s a great honour to be part of the team to help bring Ryan home, working on the site was such a surreal experience for everyone involved and one I know our team will never forget.”

Caddy Windows supplied and installed the front door for the home which was specially manufactured to allow wheelchair access. Our friends at Gem Security also supplied and installed an automatic opening function which was linked to Ryan’s wheelchair allowing him to open and close the door with a single press of a button.

Nick went on to say “We’ve done some work for the Pollard family in the past and knew how important it was for them to have Ryan home. All of the trades did such a fantastic job in just 9 days and it’s something that everyone here at Caddy Windows will remember for a long time.”

  • It was a pleasure to work with Caddy Windows & DIY SOS on this project for a local family.
